Kentucky’s SEC schedule released

The conference portion of the Kentucky women’s basketball schedule was released on Tuesday and it appears to be good news for the Cats.

Last season, after a random draw, UK ended up playing several of the conference’s top-ranked teams two times.

The two random opponents for UK this season, Florida and Alabama, were both rated near the bottom and are in the process of rebuilding.

But the Cats will have to contend with nearly all of the league’s most highly ranked teams on the road, including games at Georgia (Jan. 30), at Tennessee (Feb. 16) and at Texas A&M (Feb. 23).

That list also should include at South Carolina (Jan. 9), but the Gamecocks are UK’s permanent opponents and will visit Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 20 as well.

The Cats’ game at Tennessee will be showcased on the new ESPN Sunday afternoon package and is set to tip off at 1 p.m.

The entire SEC television schedule will be released in a few weeks.
