As hinted at early this summer, Kentucky is planning to increase its women’s basketball tickets for the upcoming season. Lower level chair back seats at Memorial Coliseum will go from $60 to $80 a season. The upper level chairs and the lower level general admission tickets will go from $45 to $65. This is the first ticket increase since the 2010-11 season, UK spokesman Dewayne Peevy said on Thursday.
The Kentucky women are expected to be ranked in the nation’s top 10 to start this season, returning all but one starter from last year’s 28-7 team that advanced to the Elite Eight. UK went undefeated last season at Memorial Coliseum and finished 13th in the nation in overall attendance.
- The Knoxville News-Sentinel published a story recently about athletics department salaries at Tennessee and it was disclosed that former Kentucky assistant coach Kyra Elzy will make $225,000 a year. The paper did not name the other terms of her contract. As the associate head coach at Kentucky, Elzy made $165,000 a year.
