Celebration for UK women’s title tonight

The Kentucky women’s basketball team has at least a share of a Southeastern Conference championship to celebrate and it is inviting up to 8,000 of its closest friends to join it Sunday night.

The SEC title, UK’s first since 1982, will be celebrated on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum after the team returns from its game at Mississippi State this afternoon.

That game, which will air on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m., will determine if the Cats are celebrating a solo title or sharing one with Tennessee. With a win at Humphrey Coliseum, the Cats earn the title outright.

A UK loss and a Tennessee win over Florida in Knoxville later Sunday means Kentucky shares the crown with the Lady Vols.

Admission is free to the event and doors at Memorial Coliseum will open at 6 p.m.

The team is expected to arrive around 7 p.m.
