Barnette headed to Virginia

Former Miss Kentucky Basketball Sarah Beth Barnette, who left the Kentucky program in May, has decided she will continue her college basketball career at the University of Virginia. The former Lexington Christian star, who won a state championship and three All “A” state titles there, said she looked at several schools but knew as soon as she visited that Virginia was where she wanted to be.

“It’s a great conference,” Barnette said on Tuesday. “The ACC is really competitive. Virginia was everything  I’ve been looking for. It’s a beautiful school, a beautiful campus. … I love the coaching staff there.”

Per NCAA transfer rules, Barnette will have to sit out a season before she can play.
