Barnette leaving UK program

Kentucky just sent a late release saying that former Lexington Christian star Sarah Beth Barnette will transfer. There was no reason given nor statement from the 2010 Miss Basketball, but there was a brief quote from Cats Coach Matthew Mitchell: “I appreciate the contribution Sarah Beth made to the Kentucky program. I wish Sarah Beth the very best as she moves forward with her career.”

The 6-foot-2 forward played in 29 of UK’s 34 games, averaging 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 6.7 minutes. She is the second Miss Basketball to transfer from UK in as many seasons. Last season, Rebecca Gray of Scott County opted to leave the program to play golf and basketball and Union College.
