Great state for women’s hoops

Two Kentucky schools were among the top 11 in the nation in average attendance this season, according to the official rankings kept by the NCAA. Louisville with its new KFC/Yum Center was second in the nation in attendance with 10,859, behind Tennessee’s 12,537 per game. Connecticut came in third with an average of 9,496. Iowa State and Notre Dame rounded out the top five.

UK finished 11th overall with 6,394 fans on average at Memorial Coliseum this past season, Kentucky’s highest mark since it led the nation in attendance in the 1982-83 season. It also was the eighth straight time the Cats finished in the top 25 nationally. With 95,453 fans in 15 home games this season, UK set a new single-season average.
