Dunlap named to Wooden Award watch list

Kentucky senior Victoria Dunlap has been named to yet another pre-season watch list, this time the John R. Wooden Award, as it was announced by The Los Angeles Athletic Club on Tuesday. The 6-foot-1 reigning Southeastern Conference Player of the Year also is on the Wade Trophy watch list awarded to the nation’s top player.

Dunlap averaged a team-high 18.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 1.9 blocks per game in helping lead Kentucky to the NCAA Elite Eight. She set single-season school records for blocks (66) and steals (107), becoming the only player in the country to have 50-plus blocks and steals in the same season.

The Wooden Award All American Team, consisting of the nation’s top five players, will be announced the week of the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner will be announced the weekend of April 8-10.
