Anna Cole transfers to Northwestern

Former Kentucky player Anna Cole will play for Northwestern, according to the school’s web site. The 6-foot-7 sophomore center will have to sit out this season per NCAA transfer rules. Cole, who said she was leaving to move closer to her home in Wisconsin, averaged 3.3 minutes in nine games as a freshman last season. She averaged one point and 1.7 rebounds.

In Tuesday’s Northwestern release, Coach Joe McKeown was excited to have the former Kentucky Wildcat become a Northwestern Wildcat. “Anna is an extremely well-rounded and focused young woman,” he said. “Her presence on the court will enable us to continue a strong post game. We are delighted she has decided to bring her talent and enthusiasm to Northwestern and our Wildcat family.”
